Our Carbon Journey

At our Kent foundry, we've set out on an exciting journey towards sustainability, and we're thrilled to share the results of our efforts in this carbon report. It's more than just numbers on a screen - it's a testament to our team's dedication to reducing our environmental impact and tackling climate change head-on.

We're proud to report a significant 24.2% reduction in total carbon emissions compared to our benchmark. In real terms, we've dropped from 265,888 kg to 201,554 kg CO2e. This isn't just a statistic; it represents countless hours of hard work, innovative thinking, and a genuine commitment to change.

Let's break down some of our key achievements:

Energy & Fuels: We've cut our emissions by 14.43%. This comes from smart choices like switching to resistance and induction furnaces and saying goodbye to fossil fuels in our melting processes.

Business Travel: We've achieved a whopping 61.24% decrease. It's incredible what can happen when we rethink our travel habits!

Scope-based improvements: We're particularly pleased with our progress in Scope 1 and Scope 3 emissions, with reductions of 69.33% and 41.77%, respectively.

These improvements didn't happen by magic. They're the result of some significant initiatives we've undertaken:

We invested in a cutting-edge secondary attrition sand reclamation plant. It sounds technical, but the upshot is that we've slashed our silica sand purchases by 90%.

Thanks to our solar panel farm, we're now partly powered by the sun.

We've kitted out our facilities with energy-efficient machinery and lighting.

Even our office waste is getting a second life through local recycling programmes.

This journey isn't just about numbers—it's about creating a better workplace for our team and being a responsible neighbour in our community. We're particularly proud to have earned Future Net Zero's Silver Carbon Award. It's a pat on the back for our efforts, but more importantly, it's fuel for our drive to do even better.
