Commitment to Carbon Reduction

Sam Hills, our Business Development Manager, explains our current focus:

"With our current focus on reducing our carbon footprint, enabled by a programme of investment and development, as well as carbon offsetting to help us strive for carbon neutrality, joining the Federation at this time makes perfect sense to us and we are looking forward to being involved in all the various CMF activities.

We all understand that foundries are energy-intense, because of the processes that we need to carry out, and we started by using an outside company to independently measure our carbon footprint.

We now work to optimise energy efficiency, use recycled metal where possible, and reclaim our sand at the foundry. Plus, we invested in a solar panel farm and purchase our energy under a green contract."

Quality and Sustainability Hand in Hand

As customer interest in sustainability grows, we proudly showcase our environmental efforts and quality credentials. Sam Hills further elaborates:

"Customers are increasingly asking us about our sustainability plans, as well as our quality credentials, and with three spectrograph machines covering both our ferrous and non-ferrous requirements, and a well-equipped inspection department, conventional and CNC machine shop facilities and in-house wet and powder coat painting, we are able to supply many of our castings fully machined and finished to ensure we look after both our commercial and released contracts."

A Rich Heritage, A Bright Future

Our history is as rich as our future is bright. Pam Murrell notes:

"The foundry has a proud heritage with its history dating back to the Hatcham Iron Works in 1849 and the production of George England's early railway locomotives, and then merged with the Reliance Foundry merged in 2002.

The recent move to a combined production centre in Aylesford in Kent clearly provided an opportunity for the team to invest in new equipment and streamline the production flow."

The Benefits of CMF Membership

Joining the CMF provides us access to a strong industry network, fostering collaboration and knowledge-sharing across the sector.

We look forward to benefiting from technical resources, industry insights, and national and international representation.
