Heavy Machining, Gravity Die Casting & Sand Casting Services in Kent
SAND CASTING
Maybrey has one of the most diverse sand foundries in the UK, producing high-grade flake iron and more sophisticated specifications such as silicon and nickel irons, SG, steels, and aluminium and bronze.
Our aluminium section produces castings for both commercial and aerospace industries.
We pump dried silica sand to all of our eight Omega sand mixers, covering both the iron and aluminium sections.
Our iron foundry can produce complex sand castings up to one tonne in weight, with up to 50% of our production going to the EU.
We have three spectrograph machines covering both our ferrous and non-ferrous requirements, with a well-equipped inspection department looking after both our commercial and released contracts.
We supply many of our castings machined and have both conventional and CNC machine shop facilities, as well as in-house wet and powder coat paint.
GRAVITY DIE CASTING
Maybrey has a diverse customer base for its die-casting, with the largest customer taking only 20% of our turnover. The industries we supply are also diverse and varied, ranging from pump manufacturers and aerospace and defence to building products, and commercial vehicles and railway braking systems.
About 30% of our die castings go to export, most to the EEC, the USA and the Far East.
The die foundry has the backup of its own in-house tool room and die repair sections. Smaller dies are made in-house with larger tools sub-contracted to a CNC-equipped tool room we have dealt with for over thirty years. All our die blocks are cast in-house in our iron sand foundry, which speeds up delivery on new dies and enables us to keep a close check on material quality.
All new dies are designed in house and in most cases a casting drawing produced detailing draft tapers, corner rads, machining allowances as well as any advantageous modifications or concessions that could help both the customer and foundry.
MACHINING
We have conventional and CNC machine shop facilities and in-house wet and powder coat painting to complement our casting manufacture.
We also offer to complement our machining facility, in-house welding, shot blasting and assembly work. Many of the castings that we machine are heat treated in-house and we have a fully equipped, non-destructive testing facility.
AEROSPACE CASTINGS
Maybrey has been a supplier of Aerospace and Defence castings since 1936.
We are accredited to ISO 9001:2015 and AS9100 REV D, supplying castings in the full range of aluminium alloys, castings in both sand and gravity die, many of which are machined in our facility.
Our inspection department and laboratory are equipped with the latest spectrometers, and all destructive tensile tests and non-destructive tests are carried out by NADCAP-approved suppliers.
INDUSTRIAL DESIGN
All new dies are designed in house and in most cases a casting drawing produced, detailing draft tapers, corner rads, machining allowances, and any advantageous modifications or concessions that could help both the customer and foundry.
We also assist many customers with product design and development if requested.
We have successfully designed a range of building products and flood defence systems and co-operated with many customers on their specific design requirements.
